Windhoek is where most Namibian journeys begin and end, and it holds more history than its size suggests. What you see
- Christuskirche: the Lutheran church at the heart of the city, built in 1907 and one of Windhoek's best-known landmarks.
- Parliament Gardens and the Tintenpalast: the gardens around the building that houses Namibia's parliament.
- Independence Memorial Museum: Namibia's colonial transition and its history of anti-colonial resistance.
- Namibia Craft Centre: work by artisans from Himba, San, Damara and Kavango communities across the country, and a good place to buy souvenirs that support local makers.

A city tour pairs well with a birding morning in the highlands around Windhoek, or with an airport transfer to or from Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH).
