Skeleton Coast
Fog, shipwrecks and seal colonies along one of the loneliest coastlines in the world.
The Skeleton Coast earned its name from the whale bones and wrecked ships that line its shore. Cold Atlantic water meets hot desert air and produces a dense fog that rolls inland most mornings, sustaining lichen fields and a surprising amount of life in what looks like nothing at all.
It is a place of scale and silence rather than of classic game viewing — and it stays with people long after they leave.
