Overview
A 14-day round trip that links Namibia's classic highlights with the rivers and wetlands of northern Botswana, starting and ending at Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH).
The first week belongs to Namibia. You cross the Great Escarpment via the Spreetshoogte or Remhoogte Pass to the Namib Desert, enter Namib-Naukluft National Park at sunrise to climb Dune 45 or Big Daddy, walk among the ancient trees of Deadvlei and explore Sesriem Canyon. The road then crosses the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons to the flamingos and pelicans of the Walvis Bay Lagoon and Swakopmund, before heading up the Skeleton Coast past the Zeila shipwreck to the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain in Damaraland. After a 4x4 search for desert-adapted elephants, two days in Etosha National Park take you from Okaukuejo across to Namutoni.
From Etosha the route runs east into the Zambezi Region for a sunset cruise on the Okavango River, then crosses into Botswana at Ngoma. In Chobe National Park you join a sunset boat safari among the elephant herds, hippos and crocodiles of the Chobe River and an early-morning game drive on the Chobe Riverfront, with an optional day excursion to Victoria Falls. Two days on the edge of the Okavango Delta bring a game drive in the Moremi Game Reserve, a traditional mokoro excursion through the papyrus channels and an island walk with native trackers, before a San Bushman cultural walk and fire storytelling near Ghanzi in the Kalahari.
On the last day the Trans-Kalahari Highway brings you back into Namibia at the Buitepos border post and straight to the airport for evening flights, bypassing Windhoek city traffic and avoiding one-way vehicle drop-off fees across international borders.

For travel in the peak season (July to October) we recommend booking three to six months ahead, as lodges and camps fill early. Outside those months six to eight weeks is usually comfortable, and we can often arrange something at short notice.
